Table of Contents

1. Check Chrome Microphone Permissions

  • Click the lock icon () or mic icon () in the Chrome address bar.

  • Ensure “Microphone” is set to “Allow”.

  • If blocked, click Reset permissions and refresh the page.

2. Test Your Microphone on Another Website

Try using your mic on a different site (e.g., MicTest) to rule out app-specific issues.

3. Update Google Chrome

  • Click ⋮ (Menu) → Help → About Google Chrome.

  • Install any pending updates and restart Chrome.

4. Clear Cache & Cookies

  • Go to Chrome Settings → Privacy & Security → Clear Browsing Data.

  • Select Cached images/files and Cookies, then click Clear Data.

5. Check System Microphone Settings

  • Windows: Go to Settings → System → Sound → Input.

  • Mac: Open System Preferences → Sound → Input.

  • Ensure the correct mic is selected and volume is up.

6. Disable Conflicting Extensions

  • Type chrome://extensions in the address bar.

  • Disable extensions one by one (especially voice/mic-related ones).

7. Reset Chrome Settings

  • Go to Settings → Reset Settings → Restore to Default.

Still Not Working?

  • Try another browser (Firefox/Edge) to check if it’s a Chrome-specific issue.

  • Reinstall Chrome or update your audio drivers.
